Local or Cloud ERP: how to choose for your business
The storage decision is easier when you start with the working day. Who enters sales? Who needs the records away from the shop? What happens if the main computer fails? Local and Cloud can suit different answers. Choosing only by the first price you see can leave the important questions unresolved.

Map where the work happens
List the people who need access and the devices they use. A business with one main computer and a clear backup owner may prefer Local. A business that needs shared online access should review Cloud requirements and the access available in its chosen plan. Do not assume that buying a Cloud plan removes the need for staff permissions, careful data entry or a reliable internet connection.
Understand the Local support arrangement
DukaanMatic Local includes the first year of updates and support free. After that year, updates and support can be renewed for ₹299 plus GST per year. If you do not renew, the installed Local software continues to work and local backups remain available, but updates and human support are not included. Plan for who will maintain the computer and manage backups if you choose to continue without renewal.
Treat Cloud as a separate paid plan
Cloud is not the free Local offer with a different storage button. Review the current pricing page for the Cloud plan, included services and any separate support options before purchasing. Consider the full working arrangement: subscription, connectivity, staff access and backup export needs. Keep the invoice and selected plan details so a later renewal decision can be based on what the business actually uses.
Budget for backup exports correctly
Local backup download and restore are free. For Cloud plans, a downloadable backup costs ₹2 per backup snapshot; downloading that same paid snapshot again does not create another charge. Cloud-to-Local exports follow the Cloud backup rule. Uploading a backup does not itself incur that export fee. A backup should also be checked for restore suitability; a file that has never been verified is a weak recovery plan.
Plan a move before changing storage
Moving from Local to Cloud, or Cloud to Local, needs a verified migration process rather than simply opening a second account and starting again. Keep the source records, confirm ownership, review the destination and follow the required approval steps. Cloud-to-Local completion also depends on the paid term ending. Before choosing, compare a normal sales day and a recovery day for each option. If both are workable, the plan decision becomes much clearer.
